I’ve always had good experiences at other Bengawan Solo outlets (Raffles Place, City Hall, Bugis), so I was shocked by the poor service at the Plaza Singapura branch today. There were no customers when I arrived, yet both staff continued chatting (one was busy attending to her mobile phone) despite making eye contact with me. I had to stand awkwardly while waiting for her to be done with her phone, only to be served with the first sentence from her in Mandarin “Say, what do you want?”. Woah. What’s with the aggression - speaking so dismissively, and even handled the food item by chucking it on the table top. This branch clearly has ongoing service issues, as reflected in recent reviews in the last one year, and it’s disappointing that nothing seems to have been done. Verdict: will not return.

The staff had such a bad attitude. When I arrived, it felt like I was disturbing her while she was listening to music. She served me without saying a single word, are you can not talk or what? It was extremely rude. Please provide proper training or at least hire people who are genuinely professional and actually willing to work.

The products are good, but some outlets can get quite busy, so waiting time may be longer. Still, the quality of the bakery items makes it a reliable choice.
