Traditional Nyonya kueh specialising in ondeh-ondeh and tapioca cake at Maxwell Food Centre.
Heng Heng Ondeh-Ondeh and Tapioca Cake is a kueh stall at Maxwell Food Centre that keeps alive the tradition of Nyonya and Malay-inspired sweet treats. The stall is best known for its ondeh-ondeh, palm sugar-filled glutinous rice balls coated in freshly grated coconut, where the burst of liquid gula melaka upon biting into one is a moment of pure satisfaction. The tapioca cake, another heritage offering, features steamed cassava layered with a rich coconut and palm sugar topping, delivering a chewy, sweet, and fragrant bite. These traditional kueh are increasingly difficult to find in their handmade form, making Heng Heng a valued presence in the Maxwell hawker ecosystem. The stall operates from a modest space but draws a steady stream of customers seeking old-school desserts that evoke childhood memories. Heng Heng Ondeh-Ondeh and Tapioca Cake is a sweet reminder of Singapore's rich kueh heritage within one of its most famous food centres.

Dropped by Heng Heng Ondeh-Ondeh & Tapioca Cake today, and the quality really stood out. The ondeh-ondeh was excellent. soft and chewy with a generous gula melaka filling that burst perfectly with each bite. Freshly made and fragrant, just the way it should be.
The tapioca cake was equally good. It had a nice, firm texture without being too dense, and the natural sweetness of the tapioca came through beautifully. Not oily, not overly sticky just well balanced and satisfying.
One thing to note: they are cash only, so be sure to have some on hand.
Overall, both the ondeh-ondeh and tapioca cake were especially good today. A great stop if you’re in the mood for traditional treats done right.

I am not a fan of such keuh keuh but always heard about this legendary stall for their super soft and moist tapioca cakes. Walked past early due to work and figured I might as well give it a shot. Can give away if I hated it. Gotta admit …

This stall probably has the best ondeh ondeh in Singapore. Perfect skin to filling ratio. Plus, unlike most others with a hardened filling, these have a satisfying, bursting center 爆浆. It has been years since I've had them, and I truly …

Were here in the morning for breakfast. Ordered the tapioca and kueh kosui mix pack cost $3.70 for 5 pieces in total. Kueh kosui has lots of gula melaka taste whereas tapioca cake was soft and melt in the mouth, with very fresh coconut flakes scattered generously. Would try their other varieties next time.
Rustic Leaves
Very patient and friendly bosses here. I bought only 2 kueh after some deliberation and they were still smiley. Very tasty kueh! The kueh (round with coconut shavings) was spongy and not very sweet. The coconut is fresh too. 80 cents and you may buy a box to share with colleagues. Will come again
