Heritage chwee kueh stall at Tiong Bahru Market, serving steamed rice cakes since 1958
Jian Bo Shui Kueh is a heritage hawker stall at Tiong Bahru Market, celebrated for its traditional Teochew chwee kueh (steamed rice cakes) topped with preserved radish. Founded in 1958, the stall has been serving its signature dish for over six decades, maintaining a recipe that has changed little over the generations. Each chwee kueh is steamed to a soft, silky consistency and paired with a fragrant, savoury chai po (preserved radish) fried with oil and garlic. The stall regularly draws long queues, particularly at breakfast and lunch, testament to its enduring popularity among locals and food tourists. Jian Bo has earned recognition in the Michelin Guide and is frequently cited as one of Singapore's must-try heritage hawker stalls.

Bought a Nonya Bak- Chang for $6.50 at Tiong Bahru Market Food Centrr when I brought home and opened it up, the rice has gone bad. Probably the stall has kept it for too long. I gave them feedback on next visit, they gave me the cold shoulder.

Local traditional breakfast delicacies. Food is still enjoyable. Saw some commentaries the topping is too oily but this is how it should be. …
Another Big Bite
Shui Kueh is stiffer not so soft-firm like usual. Radish tasted kinda tiny burnt but still fragrant and sweet-savory. Maybe, I bought it in the evening. Still a good old time snack.

Still serving one of the best shui kueh in Singapore. The rice cakes are soft and silky, topped generously with fragrant, well-balanced chai poh that delivers both savoury depth and gentle sweetness. Consistently excellent and well worth the queue—a true classic that has stood the test of time.

Had eaten here many times. Today my first time review this stall.
Honestly the texture of the kueh is very good. The most important ingredient chai poh deserved the Michelin recognition. For 5 pc $3.80.
