Its alright. I like that the shell is thin and not too greasy, the taste is good as well. But it really is so tiny, that buying more pieces is almost necessary.

We found this stall by chance when we navigate around the Maxwell Food Center to find a table. The oyster cakes are reasonably priced at SGD $2.50 each and made fresh on the spot. There might be a short wait since it's cooked to order, but …

It used to be even better. The Fu Chao Oyster Cake was once plumper, juicier, and beautifully golden — not so brown or charred. Although deep-fried, it used to have that perfect crisp crunch on the outside and moist texture inside, with a lovely hint of peanut that tied everything together. This time, it felt a little thinner and less moist, and the texture wasn’t quite as crunchy as before. I’m not sure what changed, but it doesn’t taste exactly like it used to. That said, it’s still tasty — the flavor remains comforting and true to tradition, and it’s still one of the few places that keeps this nostalgic snack alive. For the price, it’s fair and satisfying. I just hope they bring back that old magic that made it truly unforgettable.
