Handmade ang ku kueh and traditional kueh by a 73-year-old uncle at Maxwell Food Centre.

Ri Xin Snack Delights is a family-run kueh stall at Maxwell Food Centre with a heritage spanning around 70 years. A 73-year-old uncle continues to handcraft traditional kueh using original recipes inherited from his father, keeping a dying trade alive in Singapore's hawker scene. The stall offers ang ku kueh, wa kueh, and huat kueh, the latter two being increasingly rare finds across the island. Ang ku kueh here are filled with either peanut or salted mung bean and priced at just $1 each, offering remarkable value in the heart of the CBD. The mochi-like skin is smooth and thin, while the fillings are generously packed, making each piece a satisfying bite of old-school tradition. Wa kueh, a steamed rice cake similar to chwee kueh, comes drenched in a savoury black bean sauce alongside dried shrimp. Huat kueh, or fortune cake, is also available in various sizes. Ri Xin stands as a quiet guardian of Singapore's kueh heritage, run by a dedicated elder who has kept the flame burning despite the challenges of modern hawker life.
