Din Tai Fung opened its 31st Singapore restaurant on 29 August 2026 at ION Orchard #B4-03. The official site billed two ION-only dishes and a room designed after the brand's first Taipei shop on Xinyi Road, the old oil retail store, not the glass-and-wood look of newer mall outlets. 8world walked the floor on 31 August. Burpple posted from the tables on 3 September. The 1-for-1 on the peanut sesame noodles ran 31 August to 6 September. If you are reading this after that weekend, the dish is still on the ION menu at $14.80. The free extra plate is not.
The restaurant has about 100 seats in 3,000 square feet. That is a proper dining room, not a food-court hatch. It sits on B4, the same basement as Tai Cheong's new counter and Food Republic. You can eat xiao long bao, then walk 50 metres for an egg tart. Orchard MRT dumps you in the mall. Follow signs to B4.
Two dishes you cannot order at Paragon or Wisma
Noodle with Shrimp and Pork Wantons in Peanut Sesame Sauce is $14.80. The official copy says it comes from Taiwanese home cooking, springy noodles, hand-wrapped shrimp and pork wantons, peanut sesame sauce. 8world called it a weekday bowl with nutty weight. Shrimp and Pork Wantons in Spicy Sauce is $12.80, wantons in a spiced sauce with more heat. Opening weekend, 29 to 30 August, gave a complimentary spicy wanton plate with a $58 dine-in spend. From 31 August to 6 September, a screenshot of the noodle post unlocked 1-for-1 on that bowl, dine-in, one redemption per table. Those promos are timed. The dishes stay.
Burpple's visit also ordered Mama Mochi Chocolate Xiao Long Bao with sea salt cream and a custard bun. Those are not ION exclusives. They are a reminder the standard menu is still here. If you came only for xiao long bao, you can do that at Paragon. The reason to come to ION is the two wanton plates and the room.
The oil-shop sign, copied for the first time in Singapore
8world's photos of the ION fit-out sit beside archive shots of the Taipei shop: steamers stacked in the window, a cook folding dough, the 鼎泰豐 sign over a narrow street front. The Singapore room copies that era rather than the last decade of mall Din Tai Fung. A brand story wall traces 1958, cooking oil, the 1970s switch to xiao long bao when oil sales fell, then more than 180 shops worldwide. The recreated "Din Tai Fung Oil Retail" sign is, the brand says, the first time that plaque has gone up in Singapore.
From 1 September, a $80 spend before GST and service charge still redeemed a limited Bao Zai xiao long bao pouch while stocks lasted. Treat that as while stocks last, not a permanent perk. Din Tai Fung's September calendar also runs Sweet Traditions islandwide from 1 September to 31 October, and an OCBC weekday soup deal through 31 December. Those are chain promotions, not ION-only.
How this sits next to the other Orchard dumpling rooms
Paragon's Din Tai Fung is a short walk away at #B1-03. Wisma Atria has another on level 4. ION is not a gap in coverage. It is a third Orchard address with a different room and two dishes the other two cannot make. Book on dintaifung.com.sg. The brand has not posted a dedicated ION hours table on the public site. Other Orchard outlets tend to open around 11am on weekdays and run into the evening. Last orders differ. Check the reservation slot before you drag a group to B4.
